OCEAN X
In collaboration with National Geographic Channel’s Ocean X’s new series, explore how The Dallio Foundation’s $30m vessel, The Allucia II, the most advanced ocean-going vessel on the planet, will explore the ocean to answer pressing and unanswered scientific questions about animal behavior in the oceans. Other features in this issue include:
• A team led by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles spent 15 years unearthing a sauropod dinosaur they nicknamed “Gnatalie”. Follow Gnatalie from “Ground to Mount” to see what it take to build a dinosaur for display.
• The second article in Paul Salopek’s journey on foot across China.
• A look at Katmai National Park, home to the largest and healthiest population of brown bears in the world, in part because of its diverse coastline.
• A continued examination of Nat Geo Explorer Paul Sereno and his teams’ visits to Africa’s Stone Age graveyard, which he stumbled on in 2000 (originally covered by Nat Geo in September 2008).
